Baiduri Bank has been selected by The Banker magazine, Financial Times Business, U.K., as one of 27 global winners of the highly acclaimed Bracken Award 2003. The Award is a special recognition of Baiduri Bank’s exceptional achievement at winning the Bank of the Year Brunei Award for 2002 and 2003.
Named after Brendan Bracken, the founding editor of The Banker in 1926 and the chairman of the modern-day Financial Times from 1945 – 1958, the award represents a fitting accolade for the world’s top financial institutions.
According to The Banker, out of the 124 country award winners this year, only 54 retained their titles, including Baiduri Bank. This demonstrates the Bank’s capability in achieving superior overall performance despite tough economic environment in the region. Baiduri Bank’s impressive results in the areas of innovation, technology and strategic development, in particular, receive excellent commendation from The Banker’s global editorial team.
An official award presentation was held on 31 October 2003 at the Business Centre, The Empire Hotel & Country Club. The Guest-of-Honour, Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, was invited to grace the official event.
Mr Brian Caplen, Editor of The Banker magazine, presented the Bracken Award trophy to Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank. Also present at the award presentation were the Bank’s senior management team, and more than 30 distinguished guests from various government departments, foreign embassies and major corporations in Brunei.
“This is the first time a bank in Brunei receives the prestigious Bracken Award. It sets a major milestone not only for Baiduri Bank, but the entire banking community in Brunei,” said Mr Pierre Imhof. “This is a strong affirmation of the success of our business approach. |
