This year’s tournament featured an attractive array of hole-in-one prizes, including a BMW X3 2.5i, a BMW 320i and two units of Land Rover Freelander TD4. On top of that, a total of 30 golfers brought home fabulous prizes from the charity draw held in conjunction with the tournament, including electrical appliances, Motorola 3G phone set, hampers and a return ticket to Kota Kinabalu.
A prize presentation was held at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club on 02 October 2005 to award trophies to winners in the respective categories. During the prize presentation, Baiduri Bank also announced a donation of BND1,075 to Pusat Ehsan, and presented six Maclaren strollers to the Child Development Centre.
Since it first started in 1996, the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf has been actively involved in sponsorship and projects with welfare bodies such as the Child Development Centre, Pusat Ehsan and SMARTER Brunei. Major initiatives supported include the Special Olympics, fundraising concert, early intervention programmes and overseas training workshops for local therapists.
Proceeds from the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf have also been channelled towards medical treatment for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
“The Baiduri Bank Charity Golf brings together corporates and individual golfers for a common good. For corporates, it provides an excellent opportunity to fulfil their social responsibility. For the individual golfers, there’s no better way to enjoy networking and a good game of golf than to know that they are, at the same time, helping to make a difference in the local community,” said Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank.
