Baiduri Bank contributed BND27,440 towards the national Special Olympics Competition, to be held from 25-27 August 2006 at Padang Belapan. Baiduri Bank is the main sponsor for the competition.

The contribution was presented by Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank, to Pengiran Datin Hjh Noraini bte Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pengiran Hj Abdul Momin, Executive Trustee of Pusat Ehsan. The contribution was handed over at the prize presentation of the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf Tournament 2006 at the Royal Brunei Airlines Golf Club on 30 April 2006.

The Guest of Honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohammad Bin Haji Daud from the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports. Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank and Mr Andrew Young, Deputy General Manager of Operations were also present to witness the honourable event.

The Special Olympics Competition is a major sporting event organised by the Special Olympics Committee with Pusat Ehsan, Special Education Unit and the Community Development Department. A total of 147 athletes participated in the competition and the athletes were derived from the three participating institutions.

The Special Olympics programme offers sports training and athletic competition for individuals who are intellectually challenged. In particular, the programme is designed to help students with intellectual disabilities realise their potential and develop their personal, physical and social skills in order to lead a healthy and productive life within the community.
