As one of the sponsors for the 1st Empire Amateur Open Golf Championship 2006 to be held from 01 – 03 September 2006 at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, Baiduri Bank is also sponsoring four junior representatives from the Junior Golf Association to play in the championship. The junior representatives are Edwin Ho with a handicap of 7, Amalul Hj Abd Rahman with a handicap of 10, Bryant Chiew with a handicap of 9 and Khairul Kamis with a handicap of 7; all of whom are under the age of 17.

The sponsorship will provide invaluable experience to the junior golfers in gaining exposure and gives them an opportunity to compete with top golfers in the region.

On 31 August 2006, a sponsorship ceremony was held at the Empire Hotel and Country Club. The sponsorship was presented by Mr Raymond Bariou, Senior Deputy General Manager of Baiduri Bank to the four junior golfers. On hand to witness the presentation was Mr Ti Eng Hui, Deputy General Manager of Retail Banking and Branch Network; Hj Abdul Majid Ahmad, Chairman of Junior Golf Association and Pg Abdul Rahman, the Country Club Assistant Manager.

In addition to sponsoring the junior golfers to participate in the championship, Baiduri Bank will be giving away umbrellas and caps to all 110 participants on the first day of the event.
