For the 8th consecutive year, Baiduri Bank is organising the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf, an annual fundraising golf tournament, in collaboration with strategic partners QAF Eurokars Sdn Bhd, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd, QAF Transport Sdn Bhd, Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, QAF Brunei and Ben Foods Sdn Bhd. The 2004 Baiduri Bank Charity Golf will be held at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club from 21 to 23 May 2004. Golfers stand to win luxury cars including a Rover 75 1.8, a BMW 520 iA, a BMW 3.18 4-door, or a Land Rover Freelander for holes 7, 9, 13 and 16 respectively. There will be charity draws, for an opportunity to win home electrical appliances. A signing ceremony for the sponsorship of the hole-in-one car prizes was held today (18 May 2004) at the QAF Motor Showroom in Beribi. Signing on behalf of QAF Motor Group was HRH Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi, Executive Deputy Chairman and CEO of QAF Brunei, while Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank, signed on behalf of the bank. Also present at the signing ceremony were senior managers from Baiduri Bank, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd, and QAF Brunei. Since it first started in 1997, the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf has been actively involved in sponsorship and joint projects with welfare bodies such as the Child Development Centre, Pusat Ehsan and SMARTER Brunei. It has also sponsored the medical expenses for children who required medical treatment overseas. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Pierre Imhof highlighted some of the initiatives Baiduri Bank Charity Golf has undertaken this year. “As a local bank, we believe strongly in fulfilling our corporate citizenship by contributing to the well-being of the local community. In April this year, we sponsored the Special Olympics, an annual sports event for the mentally disabled that was held for the first time in Brunei. “Last Saturday evening, we sponsored “A Gift of Music”, a musical performance featuring a 14-year-old autistic Filipino boy whose musical talent has motivated and inspired many Bruneian parents faced with the challenge of providing love and care for their autistic children. “In addition, we are working closely with the local government and a number of welfare bodies, including Pusat Ehsan and the Child Development Centre, as part of our on-going community service drive,” said Mr Imhof. |
