Baiduri Bank’s new brand campaign “It’s a great big world” has emerged as the joint winner in the Marketing, PR or Brand Management Project category of the Asian Banking Awards 2005, among 118 entries from 48 banks in 16 countries.

Presented in 2005 for its sixth year, the Asian Banking Awards is Asia’s most prestigious banking award programme. It recognises and honours banks in Asia for outstanding, innovative and world-class products, services and projects implemented during the previous year. The 2005 Awards programme was presented by the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) and the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines (BMAP) in cooperation with local banking associations in the region.

The presentation ceremony took place during the Gala Dinner and Awards Night of the Asia Pacific Bankers Congress in Manila on 17 June 2005. Hundreds of banking professionals, technology experts, leading banking service providers from the region and the media were present to witness the event.

Mr Ti Eng Hui, Deputy General Manager of Baiduri Bank for Retail Banking and Branch Network, accepted the Awards trophy on behalf of Baiduri Bank from the Finance Undersecretary of the Philippines, Hon. Roberto Tan, Guest of Honour at the premier event.

Baiduri Bank was the only winner from Brunei at the Gala Dinner. Other winning banks from the region include OCBC Singapore, The International Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Siam Commercial Bank and Planters Development Bank in the Philippines.

Baiduri Bank’s “It’s a Great Big World” campaign was launched in July 2004. The campaign showcases Baiduri Bank’s new corporate identity: the dynamic, internationally recognised award-winning bank which is truly local. It also underscores the Bank’s strong commitment and aspiration to deliver world-class financial products and services to Bruneians, to help them make the most of their worlds at different stages of life cycle.

“I feel extremely proud to have won this Award. It is a recognition of our brand strategy and the effort we have put in to create a unique positioning that leverages on our strong foundations. As this is a regional award, we were competing with some of the best financial institutions in Asia Pacific. This is a major achievement for a relatively young bank with slightly more than 10 years in operation,” said Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank.

“Our brand promise is a constant reminder of our aspiration to deliver superior value to our customers and shareholders. It is the driving force in our pursuit of excellence,” said Mr Imhof.
