BAIDURI BANK GROUP HOSTS 11TH CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Baiduri Bank Group is organising its 11th annual fundraising golf tournament, the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf, with the support of strategic partners QAF Eurokars Sdn Bhd, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd, QAF Transport Sdn Bhd, QAF Brunei, Ben Foods (B) Sdn Bhd, MasterCard International and media supporter Brunei Press Sdn Bhd.

This year, the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf will be held at RBA Golf Club from 28 – 30 April 2006. Participating golfers stand a chance to win luxurious hole-in-one prizes including a BMW 325i, a Porsche Boxster 987, a BMW 320i and a Land Rover Freelander 5-door Diesel (M) for Hole 2, 5, 12 and 14 respectively. In addition, there will be novelty prizes for longest drive and nearest to the pin, as well as attractive charity draw prizes including return tickets to Dubai and Hong Kong.

A signing ceremony for the sponsorship of the hole-in-one car prizes was held this morning at the QAF Motor Showroom in Beribi. Signing on behalf of QAF Motor Group was HRH Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi, Executive Deputy Chairman and CEO of QAF Brunei, while Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank, signed on behalf of Baiduri Bank Group. Dato Paduka Chua Pheng Siong, General Manager of QAF Transport Sdn Bhd and QAF Eurokars Sdn Bhd; Mr Roger Fletcher, General Manager of QAF Auto Sdn Bhd; Mr Reggie See, General Manager of Brunei Press Sdn Bhd; Mr KY Lim, General Manager of Ben Foods (B) Sdn Bhd were among members of senior management from the QAF Group of Companies represented at the ceremony.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Mr Andrew Young, Chairman for the Baiduri Bank Charity Golf and Deputy General Manager Operations of Baiduri Bank; Mr Ti Eng Hui, Deputy General Manager Retail Banking and Branch Network of Baiduri Bank, Hj Haliluddin Dato Hj Talib, General Manager of Baiduri Finance as well as other senior executives from Baiduri Bank Group and its strategic partners.

Proceeds from the charity golf tournament will benefit a number of local charities and welfare bodies that provide help and support for individuals with special needs. Since the launch of its inaugural charity golf tournament, Baiduri Bank Group has contributed substantially towards various health and education initiatives organised by welfare bodies such as the Child Development Centre, Pusat Ehsan and SMARTER Brunei. These include major projects such as the Special Olympics, charity concerts, early intervention programmes and professional training workshops for local therapists.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Pierre Imhof said, “Baiduri Bank Group recognises the importance of community involvement and the need to give back to the community where we belong. We are honoured to work with government agencies and local charities to provide deserving individuals with quality, personalised training programmes, educational facilities and preparation for independent living in a caring environment.

The tournament is open to any golfer with a valid handicap of up to 28 for men and 36 for women. This year, a new Junior Golfer category has been introduced, to cater for golfers below the age of 18. Registration fee is BND120 for adult golfers and BND60 for junior golfers. Closing date for registration is 25 April 2006, and the first 350 golfers to sign up for the Charity Golf will receive an exclusive MasterCard goodie bag consisting of a golf towel and an elegant name card wallet.
