Baiduri Bank Group today hosted a sumptuous dinner for its Indian customers and business associates at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom, The Empire Hotel & Country Club. The Dinner was held in conjunction with Deepavali (“The Festival of Lights”), the most widely celebrated festival by Indian communities all over the world during the seventh month of the Hindu lunar calendar, which usually falls in either October or November.

Guest of honour for the event was His Excellency Mr Mahi Pal Singh, the Acting High Commissioner of India in Brunei. More than 300 customers and associates from the local Indian community were invited to the Dinner. The large gathering of guests included prominent Indian business leaders and professionals working in Brunei, merchants, corporate and Prestige clients of Baiduri Bank Group.

To celebrate the jubilant festival, the ballroom was decorated with intricate Rangoli designs and illuminations. Accompanied by Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager and Mr Raymond Bariou, Senior Deputy General Manager, Baiduri Bank, His Excellency Mr Mahi Pal Singh was invited to light candles in the traditional Lighting of Diyas ceremony to mark the joyous occasion.

The guests were treated to captivating ethnic dances and musical performances presented by members of the BSB Indian Association. In addition, a lively rendition of songs was performed by Dr Davis and his daughter Sruthi Davis. This was followed by song and dance, mimicry and game shows hosted by Sundararajan Padmanabhan, Devi Priyamuata Murugesan, Sai Prashanth Subash and Visawanathan Chinnaswamy, well-loved TV personalities and entertainers from Chennai India.

Mr Pierre Imhof said, “It gives us great pleasure to host this Deepavali dinner for our Indian customers and friends. I have been told that Deepavali symbolises the conquest of light over darkness and the oneness of all mankind.

“The Deepavali message encourages us to learn about and participate in each other’s culture. In our quest to be the preferred financial partner, we value this opportunity to come together and celebrate with our Indian friends. We want to understand their needs better, so that we can provide financial solutions that cater to their specific requirements and objectives.

” In his speech, Mr Imhof also highlighted some of Baiduri Bank’s major achievements this year, including the introduction of Western Union Money Transfer® service, the launching of bancassurance through a strategic tie-up with AIA, and more recently the launching of the SME Programme, which is designed to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Brunei.

During the dinner, Baiduri Bank Group also donated BND1,000 to the BSB Indian Association in support of its activities in Brunei. During the Dinner, Mr Pierre Imhof presented the mock cheque to Dr P. S. Sugathan, President of the BSB Indian Association. This demonstrates Baiduri Bank Group’s steadfast commitment in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by contributing towards the work of different ethnic communities, charities and cultural societies in Brunei.
