Bandar Seri Begawan, Saturday, 10th November 2007. Baiduri Bank Group today hosted a sumptuous dinner for its Indian customers and business associates at the Indera Kayanga Ballroom, The Empire Hotel & Country Club.  The Dinner was held in conjunction with Deepavali “The Festival of Lights”, the most widely celebrated festival by Indian communities all over the world each year.  In Asia, it fell on 8th November this year.

The Guest of Honour at the event was His Excellency, Mr Riewad V. Warjri, the High Commissioner of India to Brunei.  More than 300 customers and associates from the local Indian community were invited to the Dinner.  The large gathering of guests included prominent Indian business leaders and professionals working in Brunei, Card merchants, Corporate, Prestige and Wealth Management clients of Baiduri Bank Group.

The evening began with the Light Ceremony.  Accompanied by Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager and Mr Raymond Bariou, Senior Deputy General Manager, Baiduri Bank and Dr. P. S. Sugathan, President of the Indian Association, His Excellency Mr Reiwad V. Warjri was invited to light candles in the traditional “Lighting of Diyas” ceremony to mark the joyous occasion.

In his welcome speech, Mr Pierre Imhof said, “It gives us great pleasure to host this Deepavali dinner to show our appreciation to you, our customers and friends.  We would like to share in your celebration of life tonight and be thankful for the happiness, knowledge, peace and health that we are enjoying.  We, at Baiduri Bank, value the long term and close relationship with our customers, and we aim at being your preferred partner to provide financial solutions to your specific needs and wants.”

In his speech, Mr Imhof highlighted some of Baiduri Bank’s major achievements this year.  These included the set-up of the Wealth Management Centre in Kiulap, the first Baiduri Expo and the issuance of the Bank’s first series of Certificates of Deposits.

He also spoke of the launching of the next general mobile suite of services called FAST and their Airport ATM dispensing four major currencies as part of the Bank’s e-channel initiatives, both of which are the first of their kind in Brunei Darussalam.  Other milestones included the upgrading and relocation of two branches, the opening of a new branch, and the addition of new ATMs, to add to the convenience of customers.

The guests were treated to an enchanting display of modern and classical Indian dance and musical performances by a troupe specially brought in from overseas for the occasion.  The presentation included “Salam Namaste”, a combination of classical and modern dance, “Addictive”, a modern R & B Hip Hop dance, “Rangadae”, a dance depict from a box office Bollywood movie and a classical Indian dance.

To demonstrate the Group’s steadfast commitment to community development, the Baiduri Bank Group made a donation to the BSB Indian Association during the Dinner.  The BND1,000.00 cheque was presented by Mr Pierre Imhof to Mr P. S. Sugathan, President of the BSB Indian Association as it’s contributions towards the Association’s activities.
