The Baiduri Expo 2008 was officially launched at the International Convention Centre this afternoon with the theme “Saving for a Brighter Future”.

The 4-day Expo was officially opened by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II.  Through the Expo, Baiduri Bank aims to increase public awareness on the importance of financial planning and of saving for the future.

In his welcome speech, Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank said that the theme “Saving for a Brighter Future” is very relevant and timely, especially in the current economic environment of high fuel prices and inflation, which makes it important for the public to understand the need for saving.

He added that he has noted a recent shift in people’s attitude towards money in the country were more people are taking up investment plans and putting money into savings than before.  There is also evidence to show that people are now starting to save money at an earlier age.

“These are all very positive signs, thanks to initiatives taken by the Government to cultivate a savings mindset among its people”, said Mr Imhof, adding that Baiduri Bank Group is very supportive of this.  Among the initiatives taken by the Bank has been the setting up of a full-fledged Wealth Management Centre last September, the introduction of several new investment products, and continuous staff training and certification in financial planning.
