Bandar Seri Begawan, Saturday, 31st October 2009 - In celebration of Deepavali, Baiduri Bank Group today hosted a dinner for its customers and business associates at The Rizqun International Hotel.

The Guest of Honour for the event was His Excellency Mr Riewad V Warjri, High Commissioner of India to Brunei. Present at the event were more than 300 customers and associates from the local Indian community. The large gathering of guests included prominent Indian business leaders and professionals working in Brunei, Card merchants, Corporate, Prestige and Wealth Management clients of Baiduri Bank Group.

The evening began with the Light Ceremony.  Accompanied by Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager and Mr Raymond Bariou, Senior Deputy General Manager of Baiduri Bank and Dr Sugatan, the representative to the President of the BSB Indian Association; His Excellency Mr Reiwad V. Warjri was invited to light candles in the traditional "Kuthu Vilaku" (Lighting of Lamp) ceremony.

In his welcome address, Mr Pierre Imhof thanked the guests for their support which contributed to the Group’s continued success, adding, "We value the long standing and close relationship with you, our customers and associates, and we look forward to maintaining this in the years to come."

Mr Imhof stated that despite very challenging times for the financial sector, The Group delivered satisfactory financial results in 2008. Net Income was $110 million for Baiduri Bank and $43 million for Baiduri Finance. Living up to the Bank’s name as the award-winning local bank, Baiduri Bank won the Bank of the Year Award 2008 from The Banker, UK last December.

He further elaborated on the Bank’s ongoing improvement programmes to further enhance their service to customers. These included premises upgrades, technological and product innovation and service improvements, developing SME Banking further and building a more secured banking environment amongst others.

Before the end of the night, Baiduri Bank Group made a donation to the BSB Indian Association during the Dinner.  The cheque was presented by Mr Pierre Imhof to Dr Sugatan, the representative to the President of the BSB Indian Association.

Guests were entertained during the evening with enthralling performances from comedians, Allan Perera and Indi Nadarajah from Malaysia; Dr Suresh, Chris Carvalho and Baiduri Bank Group staff.
