Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th December 2011.  Baiduri Bank today handed over a Taurus Mobility Walker and 63 story books to the RIPAS Paediatric Haemoto-Oncology Centre for use by children cancer patients. The presentation took place at the Centre in RIPAS Hospital this morning.

Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank handed over the items to Dayang Hjh Siti Mariam bte Hj Mohd Jaafar, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health. Also present were Ms. Dorothy Newn, Corporate Communication and Marketing Manager of Baiduri Bank; Awang Hj Jamal bin Hj Tersad, CEO of RIPAS; Dayang Saidah bte Hj Wahid, Deputy CEO of RIPAS; Dr Hjh Norehan bte Hj Johari, Acting Head and Dayang Tsaranawwarah Abdullah Chen, Senior Occupational Therapist from the Centre.

The Centre was established to attend to children with blood disorders and with cancer. It consists of 4 rooms and the ward bay can accommodate 5-6 patients at a time. To date, 77 children have been diagnosed with cancer in Brunei since 2002.

Baiduri Bank has been a regular supporter of local charities since its inception. Last month, Baiduri Bank took 13 patients from the same centre to the Toys R Us store in Mabohai to pick toys for the Centre as part of the Bank’s pledge to help furnish the new Centre with equipment, books and toys for the patients use.  So far this year, Baiduri Bank has made donations worth a total of B$15,000 to the Centre.

Baiduri Bank has worked closely with RIPAS Hospital throughout the years. Besides being a major sponsor of the Annual Blood Donor Day annually, the Bank has helped finance the development of various areas within RIPAS.  Since 2008, the Bank has made significant donations to the Child Development Centre, RIPAS Hospital for the set up of the sensory integration and audio visual rooms and for books and equipment.  In 2009, Baiduri Bank has also donated to help cover the cost of educational aid at the Pediatric Occupational Therapy In-Patient Service Unit.
