THE BAIDURI MASTERS KICKS-OFF

Bandar Seri Begawan, Friday 01 July 2011 – The Baiduri Masters charity golf event kicked off today with a total of 87 golfers vying for top positions in the various categories.

Both Dennis Koh and Hj Arfian Hj Abdul Kadir are leading the pack at RBA Golf Club, with a gross score of 71. They were followed closely by Hj Yussop Daud and Hj Md Khairul Hj Jamaluddin, both of whom carded a gross score of 72. Three strokes back are Chu Vui Kiat and Seruji Hj Setia with a score of 75. Close behind on 76 gross was Chris Tay. Three players carded a gross of 77, namely Yunos Abdullah, On Sie Lu and Mohd Khairol Hj Bakar. 11th and 12th places go to Abd Rahim Hj Juma’at and Pg Adam Pg Atan with a gross score of 78 and 79 respectively.

To make the cut, the top 12 gross players will vie for the Green Jacket. The top 12 players from the first day of play are:

The tournament is held over this weekend and will continue over next weekend.  A total of five prizes are up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes. Besides the Porsche Cayman S, BMW523i, and Land Rover Freelander, golfers also stand a chance to win two cash prizes are BND 20,000 each. In addition, there will be novelty prizes for nearest to pin at all Par 3 over the six day event, as well as attractive charity draw prizes.

Proceeds from The Baiduri Masters will be channeled to a number of local charities and welfare bodies that provide help and support for individuals with special needs. 

The public, which includes non-Baiduri customers, can still register to take part in any of the days still remaining, on a first come first served basis.  They can also play more than once to increase their chances of winning.
