Bandar Seri Begawan, 13 June 2011 – The Baiduri Masters 2011 is set to kick off over two weekends next month, from 1st to 3rd July and from 8th to 10th July 2011 at the RBA Golf Club. A Partnership Signing Ceremony for the event was held today at the QAF Centre in Beribi between Baiduri Bank Group and their major event partners QAF Group and Brunei Press Sdn Bhd.

The highlight of the event was the signing of MOU between Baiduri Bank Group and QAF Group for the provision of three luxury cars: a Porsche Cayman S, a BMW 530i and a Land Rover Freelander as hole-in-one prizes.  Another MOU between Baiduri Bank Group and Brunei Press was signed appointing the Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata as the exclusive print media partners. 

Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank thanked the partners for their continued support of the Baiduri Masters.  “The Baiduri Masters is an initiative that started 16 years ago to raise funds for charity.  With our partners’ support and the keen participation of golfers, the event has evolved through the years to reach the magnitude it is today.  Your support have been instrumental in making this event a success year after year”, said Mr Imhof, adding, “Last year, the number of participants crossed the 1,000 mark, attracting golfers not only within Brunei, but also from neighbouring countries”, and helping to raise funds that were donated to a number of local charities”.

Mr. Albert Lau, Chief Executive Officer of QAF Brunei and Mr. Reggie See, General Manager of Brunei Press Sdn Bhd signed on behalf of their organizations respectively while Mr Imhof signed on behalf of Baiduri Bank Group.  Also in attendance were senior executives from the Baiduri Bank Group, the QAF Group and Brunei Press.

The Baiduri Masters is an annual charity golf event that has been acknowledged as the biggest and most prestigious golfing event in Brunei. The event has been raising funds for local charities that supported people with special needs and promoting activities that help special needs people gain acceptance in the wider society since 1995. This year is no different, where proceeds from the upcoming Baiduri Masters will be channelled to a number of local charities and welfare bodies that provide help and support for individuals with special needs.

A total of five prizes are up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes.  Besides the Porsche, the BMW and the Freelander, participants also stand the chance to win two cash prizes of BND 20,000 each plus numerous other tournament prizes.

The tournament is divided into three divisions: Men’s, Ladies’ and Juniors’. The Men’s division will be further divided into Men’s Open and Senior Golfers categories. The Junior Golfers category is open to golfers aged 13 to 18 years old.

Registration fee for the Baiduri Masters 2011 will be at B$120 for adults and B$60 for juniors. The registration fee is inclusive of green fee, buggy, buffet breakfast and lunch.

Players may play more than once to improve their chances of winning. They will enjoy a 10% discount on the registration fee on their second and subsequent rounds. The best score of any round played will be taken.

Deadline for registration for the first weekend’s tournament is 29th June while closing date for the second weekend’s tournament is 6th July.
