WALKABOUT FOR A CAUSE
7th November 2012

Bandar Seri Begawan, 7 November 2012 - In conjunction with the annual World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, Baiduri Finance Berhad in partnership with the National Road Safety Council and other co-campaigners of the ongoing road safety awareness campaign will be organizing a treasure hunt themed Walkabout on 18th November 2012 to be held at the Jerudong Park Playground.

The event is a part of the campaign’s obligation to render better education on responsible driving and traffic discipline to the general public. The overall objective is to create a lasting sense of road safety awareness and culture among the public and to start educating from grass root level. Road safety campaigns can play a part in helping make our roads safer.

The fun walkabout is held along a 1.31km route and is divided into 3 categories: Under 18, 18 and above, and Family. The event will be held from 6 am to 11 am.

Participants will receive a limited edition t-shirt and further details prior to the event. On the day of the event, a quest card, a bottle of drinking water and a sticker will be provided. The sticker is to be attached on the t-shirt to indicate the category the participant is in.

Registration for the walkabout will start from 7th to 16th November 2012 at all Baiduri Bank Group branches. The cost of registration per person will be $15. The registration forms can also be downloaded from the website www.baiduri.com

On the event day, a warm up session will be conducted before the contest begins. Each category will be flagged off at different times and will have 2 hours to complete the walkabout. Within the Jerudong Park Playground, 30 pit stops will be randomly placed throughout the entire route. At each pit stop, participants will face challenges called ‘Quest’ that will earn participants a point when completed. The ‘Quests’ will examine participants’ knowledge on the road safety awareness campaign, road signs and regulations.

‘Bonus Quests’ will also be made available for participants to earn additional points. Winners for each category will be those who accumulate the most number of points. In the event of a draw, the first participant to drop off their quest card in the drop box will be considered the winner.

There will also be attractive prizes up for grabs. For the Under 18 category, the top 3 prizes are an Apple Macbook Pro, an Apple iPad, a Samsung Galaxy Tab and the PlayStation Portable (PSP) as consolation prizes. For the 18 and above category, the top 3 prizes are an Apple iPhone 5, a Samsung Galaxy S3, a Samsung Note 2 and the iPod Touch as consolation prizes. For the family category, the top 3 prizes are an LED TV, an xBox 360 set, a Super Slim Playstation 3 and The Empire Hotel and Country Club vouchers as consolation prizes. Participants are encouraged to wear fancy costumes to stand a chance to win prizes for the best dressed.
