BAIDURI BANK HOSTS SEMINAR ON THE VOLATILITY AND RECOVERY OF GLOBAL FINANCIAL MARKET

Bandar Seri Begawan, 23 August 2013 — In keeping customers well informed on the latest trend in financial markets, Baiduri Bank organized several investment seminars since the beginning of this year covering currencies, unit trusts and investment linked insurance.  The latest seminar covered market volatility of foreign currencies and discussed the roadmap employed by the US as well as other countries to reach global recovery.  The event was held at the Mutiara Ballroom, Radisson Hotel on 23rd April 2013.

On hand to welcome the guests was Ti Eng Hui, Deputy General Manager, Retail Banking and Branch Network of Baiduri Bank who said, "Given the volatility of the currency market in the last few months, it is useful for all of us to take stock and understand the factors behind this volatility and the trend forward."

The seminar was presented by Mr Philip Wee Sung Seng, Senior Currency Economist of DBS Bank, Singapore. He discussed the movements of foreign currencies such as the US Dollar, Euro and Chinese Yuan over recent years and also the Eurozone crisis which began in late 2009, and its impact on the global economy. He also shared in detail on the measures taken by the US and other countries to lead the global economy into recovery through Fed tapering and quantitative easing methods.

Also present at the event was Andrew Young, Deputy General Manager, Operations Management Division and Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Haji Mustapha, Senior Manager, Treasury Department of Baiduri Bank. The event hosted by the bank was attended by some 180 invited guests.
