Bandar Seri Begawan, 21st July 2014 – In the spirit of Ramadhan, 65 personnel from the Baiduri Bank Group last Saturday held a community project which brought much needed relief to 18 underprivileged homes in the Brunei-Muara District.

Besides donating household supplies and amenities, the group also helped to clean three of the homes they visited. After a hard day's work, the group treated the families of the 18 homes to Iftar together at the Star Lodge, Jerudong.

This community project was staff initiated through the Baiduri Bank Recreational Club (BBRC). They rallied many volunteers from members of staff, and organised an overwhelming amount of staff donations to be given away during this charity drive. The 18 families involved were identified with the help of the Community Development Department (JAPEM).

Mr Ti Eng Hui, the Deputy CEO of Baiduri Bank said, "The objectives of BBRC have always been about promoting social, sport and recreation activities and aiming to strike that balance between work and play. BBRC is a great platform for community service activities and provides staff the opportunity to get involved in charitable causes that impact the lives of those less privileged."

Melanie Haji Dennis, Chairperson of the BBRC 2013-2014 added, "We started the BBRC Gives Back Campaign last year, and it was a huge success. Baiduri staff were so eager to volunteer and the amount of donations was just overwhelming. Everyone felt rewarded knowing their contributions went a long way to helping these underprivileged families, not to mention a humbling experience. We knew we had to do it again this year."

Dorothy Newn, Head of Corporate Communications & Marketing excitedly remarked, "We are always extremely happy to support BBRC’s community service efforts. It shows the spirit of volunteerism and that charity lives and thrives within Baiduri Bank Group’s members of staff and to us it is one of the fundamental qualities of a Baidurian."

Being a part of a community that emphasizes the importance of shouldering social responsibilities to help the less fortunate, the Baiduri Bank Group last month hosted the Baiduri Masters, an annual charity golf event which raised $70,000 which was channeled to a number of charity and welfare organizations that support children with special needs.
