Bandar Seri Begawan, 01 March 2014 – In keeping with tradition, Baiduri Bank Group today hosted their annual eight-course dinner for its customers and business partners in the Brunei-Muara and Tutong Districts in celebration of Chinese New Year 2014.

The event was held at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Hotel & Country Club where almost 2,000 distinguished guests including foreign dignitaries, prominent businessmen, customers, partners and associates of the Group attended. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II and his spouse, Datin Tan Bee Yong were the guests of honour.

The evening opened with a traditional acrobatic performance and a welcome address by Mr. Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank, where he thanked guests for their support and confidence in Baiduri Bank and highlighted the major progresses and achievements of Baiduri Bank Group during the past year.

Talking about the Group's achievement, Mr. Imhof remarked that Baiduri Bank received three major awards in 2013: the "Domestic Retail Bank for Brunei 2013" for the first time ever from the Asian Banking and Finance Magazine, the "Best Banking Group for Brunei 2013" from World Finance for the fifth consecutive time and the “Strongest Bank Balance Sheet for Brunei 2013” from The Asian Banker Magazine.

"Despite 2013 being a challenging year for the banking industry, Baiduri Bank Group has performed remarkably well and should announce strong financial results after the AGM. The Strongest Bank Balance Sheet Award therefore is an important achievement as it is an endorsement of the group's strong financial strength, derived from the sustainable recurring income from our business model despite the challenges faced," added Mr. Imhof.

During the event, four schools from Brunei-Muara District received donations from Baiduri Bank to provide financial assistance to underprivileged students in their schools. The donations were presented by Mr. Imhof and were received by Ms. Jane Keasberry, Principal, St. Andrew’s School; Mr. Janidi Jingan, Principal, St. George’s School; Madam Kho Guik Lan, Principal, Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB; and Dr. Mary Lim, Director and Founder, Seri Mulia Sarjana School.

Guests were enthralled by a spectacular line up of local artistes performing throughout dinner. Maria Grace Koh and Kevin Lo, who made headlines in Brunei when they won silver and gold medals respectively in the World Championships of Performing Arts 2013, as well as Anabelle Voo, Brunei’s Teenage Singing Sensation, graced the stage with their breathtaking performances. Rachael Malai Ali and Nadzri Harif amused and amazed guests with their comedic prowess and magical act respectively.

Also in attendance at today’s dinner were the management committee and senior executives of the Group. A similar event was held in Seria yesterday for customers in the Seria and Belait Districts.
