Bandar Seri Begawan, 30 October 2014 – Being an organisation that emphasises the importance of shouldering social responsibilities to help the needy, Baiduri Bank Group today handed over a substantial amount of learning aids and specialised equipment to support students with special needs in schools.

The Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education today hosted a handover ceremony at the main hall of the Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education. The guest of honour at the event was Mr. Andrew Young, Deputy General Manager, Operations Management Division and Diversification & Strategic Development of Baiduri Bank.

In his welcoming remarks, Awang Bukit bin Hidup, Acting Deputy Head of the Special Education Unit thanked Baiduri Bank Group for their continuous support and generosity in making a difference to the special needs community. He then witnessed the handover of the specialised learning aids and specialised equipment from Mr. Andrew Young to the special needs students. Among the items contributed by the banking group to the students with special needs included wheelchairs, a few specialised workstations, a stroller and a laptop.

Speaking on the Bank's CSR initiatives, Mr. Andrew Young said, "Through our various initiatives, such as the Baiduri Masters [Charity Golf Tournament], we hope to make a difference, whether big or small, to improve or alleviate the burdens of those in need."

These learning aids were acquired through the proceeds raised during the Baiduri Masters Charity Golf Tournament event. The Baiduri Masters is an annual charity golf tournament organised by the Baiduri Bank Group. Since the tournament’s inception in 1995, the competition has been raising funds for local charities and organisations that support and help people with special needs and promotes activities that help people with special needs to integrate into society.

Also present at the event were senior officials from Baiduri Bank and the Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education.
