Bandar Seri Begawan, 22 April 2015. As part of its expanding CSR portfolio, Baiduri Bank presented 8 cheques to various charity organisations and local artists today. In a cheque presentation ceremony held at Dynasty Restaurant in Gadong this morning, Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank presented the cheques to SMARTER Brunei, Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Cacat (KACA) Brunei, Learning Ladders Society, Child Development Centre and Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA).

Baiduri Bank organised the charity art auction held on February 4th at the JIS Art Centre with two objectives in mind: firstly, to support the local arts industry, and secondly, to raise funds for various charities in Brunei.

In his welcome speech, Mr. Pierre Imhof expressed his thanks to buyers for their support. He went on to elaborate that 7 paintings were sold during the one-night only event, adding, "I am delighted to announce that we were able to raise over B$36,000 for the charities and the artists from the sale of the paintings. In addition, we received additional cash donations from our invited guests which will all go to the charities they have chosen. It is this selfless generosity from our guests that help us realise our mission of becoming a socially responsible bank." The funds raised from the sale of each painting were split between the charity or charities of the buyers’ choice and the artist.

The Child Development Centre, Ministry of Health was presented with a cheque and was received by Dr Hjh Mawarni Hj Abd Hamid, Head of the Child Development Centre. The second cheque was presented to the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) and was received by Dayang Suryani binti Hj Emran, a representative for YASKA.

The next cheque was presented to SMARTER Brunei and was received by Malai Hj Abdullah bin Malai Hj Othman, President of SMARTER. The fourth cheque was presented to Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Cacat (KACA) Brunei and was received by Awang Tengah bin Ahmad, Treasurer of KACA Brunei.

The fifth cheque was presented to the Learning Ladders Society and was received by Dr Sharina binti Yunus, President of the Learning Ladders Society. All the cheques to the charities were presented by Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank.

Mr Andrew Young, Deputy General Manager of Operations Management Division, Diversification and Strategic Management, then presented the cheques to the artists. The first artist to receive his cheque was Osman Mohammad. He received a cheque for his painting entitled Dawn New Horizon. Pg Timbang bin Pg Hj Tuah then received his cheque for the sale of his painting entitled Life.

The next artist to receive their cheque was Pg Khamarul Zaman bin Pg Hj Tajuddin. He received a cheque for the sale of two of his paintings, Teraja and Rasau.

Also present at the event were Ms Yvonne Chan, Head of Corporate Banking, Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Head of Retail Banking and Branch Network and other senior members of Baiduri Bank.

The event concluded with a group photo of Baiduri’s Senior Management Committee, the charity representatives, the artists and the event organiser of Baiduri Art Auction - Bruneian Art for Charity.
