Bandar Seri Begawan, 30 March 2015. This year Baiduri Bank took a significant role as one of the main sponsors for the celebration of French language, arts and culture during the Francophonie Week, held from the 22nd – 28th March 2015.

Franchophonie Week was organized by Alliance Francaise (AF) Brunei to provide a platform and support cultural endeavours between Bruneians and Franchophones alike.

The eventful week started with an art exhibition on 21st March 2015 at The Empire Hotel & Country Club that showcased the collection of Bill Reid works, Syaifuddin Badaruddin “The Soil Artist” and Armacester Arsad. The art exhibition was open to the public throughout the Francophonie Week.

And on 25th March 2015, at Jerudong International School (JIS) Art Centre, was a special musical performance by Alif Naaba and his team who prompted the audience to dance on their feet as they were introduced to a combined jazz, pop-folk and traditional Moagha music of Burkina Faso. As an opening act, guests were entertained by Janna Yussof, who gave a captivating performance with her rendition of popular French music numbers.

Present to witness the enticing musical performances was Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank, Dorothy Newn, Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing Department as well as Aariz Patrick Ng, Manager of Retail Banking and Branch Network.

On 28th March 2015 the final day of the Franchophonie Week, a cooking demonstration was conducted at the Mabohai Shopping Complex. A chef from The Empire Hotel & Country Club, David Dehon, introduced the attendees with French dishes, including home-made strawberry jam.

The Franchophonie Week 2015 concluded with a prize presentation for the winning students of the art-based Dix Mots competition. The competition gathered artworks that were based on the 10 Francophonie words this year; Wiki, Inuit, Bravo, Cibler, Grigri, Kitch, Amalgame, Kermesse, Serendipite and Zenitude.

The top three places went to Year Seven students from Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College’s (Maktab Sains).

Juries of the competition included Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank, Loan Forgeon, Ambassador of France to Brunei Darussalam and Pg Dato Paduka Hj Idriss Ibni Al Marhum Pg Temenggong Pg Hj Mohamed, President of Alliance Francaise de Brunei.
