Bandar Seri Begawan, 1 March 2016. Twenty-one Baiduri staff members received their certificates after successfully completing and passing the Financial Planning Practitioners' Programme (FPPP) course at the Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management (CIBFM).

During an event held at Baiduri's Kiarong branch, twenty-one Baiduri Bank staff received their FPPP Certificate. The certificates were presented by Mr. Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank.

Ms. Veronica Chong, Senior Manager of Human Resource and Finance said, "The current generation's awareness on the importance of financial planning is steadily increasing and we can already see a rise in financial planning activities in the country. In light of this development and in line with the government's vision to inculcate a savings culture amongst Bruneians, we strive to develop our staff to meet this increasing demand in helping our customers. To date, Baiduri Bank has the highest number of staff holding this qualification in the industry."

Further elaborating on the FPPP and Accelerated FPPP graduates, she said, "We plan to station our financial planners at as many of our branches in order to provide a more holistic approach to wealth management. We envision our customers being able to receive the whole suite of programmes and products we offer, irrespective of which branch they go to." Ms. Chiam Chin Huei, Assistant Manager of Learning and Development, further clarified that the FPPP certification is a prerequisite in attaining the Capital Market Services Representative Licence (CMSRL). On average, the financial planners have at least a year's experience in general financial planning before undertaking the CMSRL.

The Financial Planning Practitioners' Programme (FPPP) was formulated to address the licensing requirement, among others, for financial planners with the guidance and support of AMBD as well as TAP, to cover the minimum knowledge and skills expected of a competent financial planner. The FPPP covers areas such as cash management and budgeting, risk management, insurance and investment planning as well as retirement and estate planning in accordance to proper code of ethics and local regulatory practices.

Also present at the event were Mr. Ti Eng Hui, Deputy CEO of Baiduri Bank, Pg. Azaleen bin Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Head of Retail Banking and Branch Network, Ak Nor Muhammad Nizam bin Pg Hj Tengah, Head of Treasury Department as well as other members of Baiduri Bank staff.
