Baiduri Bank Officially Relaunch Kiulap And Serusop Branches

Bandar Seri Begawan, 23 November 2017 – Baiduri Bank made history today with a double event celebrating the relaunch of their Kiulap and Serusop branches.

The event which started in Kiulap Branch, was attended by the guest of honour, Mr Yusof Bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD). After the formalities, guests are ferried over to the second venue, Serusop Branch for its official launch, and ended with a lunch reception.

Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank, in this welcoming speech remarked, "Baiduri Bank has been investing significantly in our Branch Network where branches are redesigned to suit the market segment and its surrounding areas. The investments we are making to our branch will make for a more welcoming environment for our customers to carry out their banking transactions, which we believe, is key to enhancing the overall customer experience. "

Kiulap Branch started operating in the new premises on October 2016, but has been present in the area since 2001. The strategic location enables it to be highly accessible to the public and has been a landmark in the area for many years. Now, the new Kiulap branch offers a much bigger banking hall, more ATMs and a bigger Prestige Centre to meet the growing needs of their customers.

Serusop Branch is centrally located within the Serusop commercial area, occupies a prominent spot in Kg Delima at the newly constructed Pelangi Complex. Opened in July 2017, the new branch is also home to Baiduri Bank's first Business Hub, a centre specifically set up to cater to the needs of business customers.

Both branches offer full banking services to individuals and businesses as well as complimentary personal financial planning consultation. Additionally, there is also a Prestige Centre to cater for Baiduri Bank's high net worth segment.

The guest of honour enjoyed a tour of each branch after the official launch, led by Mr Pierre Imhof, CEO of Baiduri Bank, Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Head of Retail Banking & Branch Network, Baiduri Bank, as well as the respective branch managers of Kiulap and Serusop Branches.

Also present at the ceremony were members of the Baiduri Bank Management Committee and a host of senior executives from Baiduri Bank Group.

Baiduri Bank's branch network configuration project is part of initiatives to enhance overall customer experience. The upgrade of Baiduri branches is an ongoing project to meet the evolving customer needs.

Good morning!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this morning's event to witness the official opening of not one, but two of our recently relocated branches in Kiulap and Serusop.

We first set up branches in these two locations 16 years ago at a time when commercial activities were just beginning to develop. Over the years, these locations have grown into some of the busiest commercial areas in Brunei, that it become necessary for us to upgrade our premises in order to be able to serve customers better and to support the increased economic activities nearby.

Our new Kiulap branch offers a much bigger banking hall, more ATMs and a bigger Prestige Centre while this new Serusop branch is three times the size of the previous one and features a large banking hall, a new Prestige Centre and our very first "Business Hub".

Ladies and gentlemen, the business environment continues to be challenging as a result of the prolonged low oil and gas prices. However, as reported in the media recently, Brunei's economy is already on the road to recovery, thanks to reforms made by the Government to create a more business-friendly environment and the establishment of large foreign direct investment (FDI) projects. All these initiatives have earned Brunei "the most improved country" in the World Bank's annual "Ease of Doing Business" report recently.

Baiduri Bank have always been committed to the local business community, to encourage and support their growth. This has been evidenced by the set up the Business Banking Unit in 2015 to focus specifically on developing products and services to cater to this segment.

Under Business Banking, we offer Card Merchant services to retailers; Baiduri Internet Gateway System (BIGS) - the first and only internet payment gateway system located in Brunei; Baiduri Business Internet Banking and assisting customers in their financing needs.

Last year, we launched MerchantSuite - an affordable online platform which allows small and micro businesses to issue invoices to and accept payments from their customers. And, taking customer feedback into consideration, in March this year, we launched the Micro Account for unique small businesses that are just starting out and may require an abridged version of normal business account.

Today, here at Serusop Branch, you will have the opportunity to visit our very first "Business Hub", a centre specifically set up to cater to the needs of the business community.

Baiduri Bank has been investing significantly in our Branch Network where branches are redesigned to suit the market segment and its surrounding areas. All of our branches offer the full range of banking products and services to cater to individuals as well as businesses. Free Wi-Fi is also available, as well as complimentary financial planning consultation.

We continue to invest heavily in our systems to ensure a high level of service delivery with the highest level of security in the industry. As part of our digital transformation programme, we recently carried out a major upgrade on our banking systems, as well as on our internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs. These significant investments in systems and in our premises came at the right time which made it possible for us to accommodate the influx of several thousand new customers recently.

This major acquisition of another bank's portfolio will help to strengthen our retail, corporate and vehicle hire-purchase businesses in a big way, in line with our long term strategy of playing a leading role in the development of Brunei's financial sector and in serving the people of Brunei.

We will continue to invest in our premises, our systems, our people and in developing our products and services because we believe in the future of this country.
