Baiduri Bank Hosts Children From Learning Ladders And SMARTER To Watch Frozen 2
21 December 2019

Bandar Seri Begawan, 21 December 2019 As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in conjunction with its 25th Anniversary, Baiduri Bank recently treated over 100 children and their guardians from the Learning Ladders Society and SMARTER to watch Frozen 2 at The Empire Cinema.

Baiduri Bank has been involved in giving back to the local community through various initiatives, chief of them being the annual Baiduri Masters Charity Golf Tournament, where proceeds raised are donated to charity and welfare organisations that support differently abled individuals in Brunei such as Pusat Ehsan, Child Development Centre (CDC), YASKA, SMARTER Brunei and the Learning Ladder Society. In addition, the Bank also provides support to Demensia Brunei, an NGO whose mission is to help the country reach a dementia-friendly community.

Ms Dorothy Newn, Head of Group Corporate Communications Department said: “As one of the pillars of our CSR framework, we have been actively supporting a number of local welfare and charitable organizations that focusses on individuals with special needs. The aim has always been towards making a difference for this segment. Besides helping to raise funds for these organisations, we also encourage our employees to spend time in activities geared towards bringing cheer and alleviating the burden of these individuals.”

She further elaborated that the Baiduri Bank Group Charity Committee believes in supporting these organisations by being actively involved in promoting activities that would help them integrate into and gain acceptance into the wider society. She added: “Moving forward, we are actively looking at different ways to facilitate community development initiatives, whether it be as a volunteer, a participant, a partner or a sponsor.”

Meanwhile, Dr Sharina Yunus, the president and founder of the Learning Ladders Society said: “The movie gave families from the Centre the chance to spend an afternoon with their special children in a non-judgmental environment. The entire experience was made autism friendly so that the families can enjoy each other’s company and the movie. This entire experience has given children with autism the opportunity to experience everyday life in a safe environment, and most importantly, everyone had fun. These events wouldn’t be possible without partners such as Baiduri Bank.”

Also attending the event were various officers from the Bank’s Group Marketing Department and Group Corporate Communications departments.
