Corporate Profile
Baiduri Bank began operations on 18 July, 1994 and was officially inaugurated on 13 August, 1994 at Jalan Pemancha in the capital. Since then, we have grown rapidly to become one of the largest providers of financial products and services in Brunei. By capitalising on the strengths of our shareholders including Baiduri Holdings, Royal Brunei Airlines, Royal Brunei Technical Services and BNP Paribas, we offer world-class financial products and service anchored on our local knowledge and global expertise.

In our early years of operation, our core business was corporate banking, focusing on import and project financing needs of suppliers and contractors of the Brunei Government and Brunei Shell Petroleum. In recent years, we have also introduced the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) financing scheme in collaboration with the Enterprise Facilitation Scheme (EFS), and the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) Micro-Financing Scheme to assist the growth of local businesses.

Several years ago, we ventured into retail banking business, a vital strategic decision that laid the foundation for our strong growth and success. Currently, we have a network of 11 branches and 17 ATMs located throughout the country, and an impressive track record of financial innovations and pioneering activities. We are the first bank in Brunei to introduce 7 days-a-week in-store banking, Internet banking and mobile phone banking, to suit the busy lifestyles of modern Bruneians.

We also have a well-established payment card business with the largest merchant base in the country. We are the first and only bank in Brunei to hold the franchise for three major card brands, namely American Express, Visa and MasterCard, offering a diverse range of payment cards to meet the financial needs of different customer segments. We are the first to issue the internationally accepted Visa Electron Debit Card, MasterCard Ladies Card, MasterCard Electronic® prepaid cashcard and MTV prepaid card, the latter being the first of its kind in the world.  
 
 
Awards and accolades
 
         
 
We have won the Bank of the Year Brunei Award from The Banker magazine, Financial Times Business, UK, for three consecutive years from 2002 to 2004, 2006, and most recently 2007 as well as the Bracken Award 2003 and 2004. One of our innovative card products, the Baiduri MTV Card, was awarded runner-up in the Marketing, PR or Brand Management Project category of the Asian Banking Awards 2004. In June 2005, our new branding campaign emerged as winner in the Marketing, PR or Brand Management Project category of the Asian Banking Awards 2005. In February 2008, Baiduri Bank received a Special Citation for FAST, the revolutionary mobile suite of services at the Financial Insights Innovation Awards.
 
 
Subsidiary
Our 100% owned subsidiary, Baiduri Finance, began operations in October 1996. Within a few years’, it has become the leading institution for car hire purchase financing in Brunei. Baiduri Finance has also introduced highly successful deposit products such as the multi-tier savings account.  
 
 
Our brand promise
Our new brand campaign featuring the tagline “It’s a great big world” was launched in July 2004. It is clear statement about our commitment to help Bruneians achieve the best in their worlds – be it business, personal finances or family – at different stages of their life cycle.

It also brings out our core strengths:
