Here's what our fifth batch of apprentices had to say about their experience in the programme:
GAP was my first real step into the corporate world, and it challenged me to grow in ways I did not expect. The fast-paced environment strengthened my adaptability, resourcefulness and confidence, while working with teams across the Bank, especially the Group Strategic Marketing and Communications team, gave me hands-on exposure to event support, vendor engagement and cross-department collaboration. With the guidance of mentors and colleagues, I learned the importance of taking initiative and discovered that I am capable of much more than I once believed.
The programme also broadened how I see my career. With a marketing background, I never imagined myself in banking, yet GAP helped me realise that my skills are transferable and encouraged me to explore opportunities beyond my comfort zone. Being part of the team’s community and sustainability work inspired me to contribute more to meaningful causes, build genuine connections and step forward with a clearer sense of purpose.
GAP has strengthened both my professional foundations and personal development. I gained a solid understanding of the banking environment and enhanced my professionalism, time management and commitment to continuous learning. The programme helped me build resilience, confidence, stronger communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others, qualities that I know are essential in any workplace.
The apprenticeship has equipped me with real-world experience, workplace etiquette and the confidence to take on greater responsibilities. My problem-solving skills, sense of accountability and communication have grown significantly, and I now feel prepared and excited to continue contributing meaningfully as I take the next step in my career.
Balancing GAP projects with my day-to-day responsibilities taught me valuable lessons about communication, teamwork and stepping outside my comfort zone. Collaborating with colleagues from different areas of the Bank broadened my perspective, while the improvement in my presentation skills boosted my confidence and reinforced my ability to deliver thoughtful and well-rounded solutions. This experience also encouraged me to meet new people and participate in new activities with greater courage.
The apprenticeship has opened new doors and strengthened my belief in what I can achieve. With the skills and experiences gained through the programme, I now feel equipped and confident to pursue future opportunities and continue growing in my career journey.
Application opens from 17 October 2022 to 6 November 2022.
