BAIDURI BANK CELEBRATES 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF BAIDURI ENTEPRISE HUB
30 August 2024

Baiduri Bank celebrated the first anniversary of the Baiduri Enterprise Hub earlier this week with an Open Day attended by a diverse group of members representing local MSMEs from various sectors, including creative arts, food and beverage, professional services, technology, and retail industries.

The Baiduri Enterprise Hub is a co-working space and one-stop centre dedicated to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Brunei. It offers a range of facilities including private pods, meeting rooms, event spaces, and an open area called "horizon" for networking and collaboration. The hub provides free WiFi, audio-visual equipment, private pods and hot-desking options to cater to the needs of budding entrepreneurs and established businesses looking to expand.

Since its launch last August 2023, the Hub has become a vibrant venue for entrepreneurs to upskill, collaborate, and drive growth within Brunei's MSME community.

During the anniversary open day, Baiduri Enterprise Hub ecosystem partners, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI), Shell LiveWIRE, and the Young Entrepreneur Association Brunei (YEAB) were also present for knowledge-sharing and mentoring. As the Hub’s ecosystem partners, they have been providing holistic support for MSMEs through specialised business clinics, skill-building workshops, and networking events such as the Baiduri-DARe MSME Empowerment Series or the Baiduri-YEAB Power Coffee series.

The event also showcased some businesses that are active members of the Baiduri Enterprise Hub:

“The Baiduri Enterprise Hub has been instrumental in our development over the past year, providing us with invaluable resources and networking opportunities,” remarked Billy Lim, Managing Director of Si Manja Pet Grooming Spa, one of the businesses showcased during the event.

Another showcased business was The Harry Knit. Its owner, Bash Harry, said, “Being part of the Baiduri Enterprise Hub has been a game-changer. The nurturing ecosystem and Baiduri Bank's tailored financial solutions have empowered us to transform our passion for knitting into a thriving business."

"We are immensely proud of what the Baiduri Enterprise Hub has achieved in just one year," said Mohammad Isa Liew Mohd Amin Liew, Head of Business Banking at Baiduri Bank. “When we first opened our doors, we started with just a handful of members. Today, we have grown to over 100 MSMEs, each contributing to a dynamic and supportive ecosystem. This growth is not only a testament to the resilience and innovation of our members but also a reflection of our commitment to empowering local businesses.”

"This anniversary is not just a celebration of this milestone, but a testament to the resilience and innovation of our MSME members. Their success is our success, and we are committed to continuing our support for their entrepreneurial journey," shared Mohammad Isa Liew.

Also present during the event providing food and drinks were vendors Pelita Coffee, The Mock Drink Bar as well as The Fork Burgers who are all also members of Baiduri Enterprise Hub.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the MSME sector and their comprehensive approach to supporting MSMEs at every stage of their development, from start-up to expansion, Baiduri Bank offers a range of products and services through its Business Banking Unit, including:

  • MSME account: A specialised account with a low initial deposit and minimum balance, designed to support the day-to-day operations of small businesses.
  • Baiduri SME account receivables financing: A solution that helps businesses improve cash flow by advancing payments on outstanding invoices.
  • Business advisory services: Expert guidance on financial management, business planning, and growth strategies.

Looking ahead, Baiduri Bank reaffirms its commitment to the growth and success of the MSME sector in Brunei. The bank will continue to expand its support through enhanced services, strategic partnerships, and continued investment in the Baiduri Enterprise Hub.

Manuel Bulens, Deputy CEO, Consumer Banking, Baiduri Bank emphasised the significant potential within Brunei's MSME sector, stating, "Baiduri Bank is committed to playing an integral role in unlocking this potential. The Baiduri Enterprise Hub will continue to adapt to the changing needs of our business community, driving growth and innovation for years to come."
