BAIDURI BANK CHAMPIONS CYBER HYGIENE AND FEMALE LEADERSHIP IN TECH
23 April 2025

Baiduri Bank proudly participated as a sponsor of Ladies In Cyber 2025, a networking and educational event hosted last week at Laksamana College of Business. Organised by the Brunei Cyber Security Association (BCSA), the event brought together women from across Brunei’s tech and security sectors under the theme “SheSecures: Women Leading Cyber Defense”—fostering connection, collaboration, and career development in the growing field of cybersecurity.

The programme featured an engaging panel discussion followed by a tabletop exercise designed to simulate real-world cyber response scenarios. Representing Baiduri Bank at the event were Suzyerdayati Mohd Eddy Suffian, Efi Shafrina Faisal, Siti Nur Afifah Izzatullah Haji Umar and Ak Abd Afif Johnis Pg Abd Aziz from its IT Security team, highlighting the Bank’s commitment to nurturing talent and driving greater gender inclusion within the industry.

The sponsorship also reflects Baiduri Bank’s broader digital-first approach to scam awareness and cyber education, especially as scams become increasingly sophisticated and digitally driven. Through its close collaboration with BCSA and participation in the Cybersecurity Incident and Response Group (CINRG), the Bank has access to national scam trend data and aligns its awareness content with cybersecurity response protocols.

Baiduri Bank has embedded cybersecurity awareness into its core communication and outreach efforts. The Bank regularly publishes educational content under the ‘Learn’ section of its website, including a scam quiz designed to help users identify red flags and test their knowledge of common tactics used by scammers. Articles and infographics—often framed through relatable everyday scenarios—are also shared to reinforce awareness and encourage safe online behaviour.

These efforts are supported by engaging social media content co-developed with Cyber Security Brunei, delivering timely and localised advice across platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. In 2023, Baiduri Bank also released a podcast episode in conjunction with International Fraud Awareness Day, which shared real-life scam stories and tips for prevention—further amplifying its educational outreach.

Beyond its digital channels, the Bank ensures that cyber hygiene is integrated into its community and school engagements. Financial literacy programmes conducted by the Wealth Management team often include practical tips on protecting personal data, avoiding phishing scams, and spotting suspicious online behaviour—particularly when addressing students and youth. These activities not only reinforce financial knowledge but also equip young audiences with essential digital safety skills.

“As threats evolve, so must we – especially in how we keep our customers secure and prepared,” said Mohd Amir Hamzah Bahidon, Head of IT Security at Baiduri Bank. “Events like Ladies in Cyber help foster a cybersecurity culture where awareness, inclusivity, and preparedness go hand in hand. We are proud to stand with BCSA and be part of efforts that shape a stronger, safer digital future for Brunei.”
