As part of its Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI), Baiduri Bank held two events in the spirit of Ramadhan to promote positivity both in an individual and for the community.
The first event, a spiritual health talk titled ‘Be kind to your mind’ was held at Baiduri Community Space at Baiduri Bank Headquarters on 26 April 2022. The talk, conducted by Ustazah Hanisah Othman, a renowned motivational speaker in Brunei, focused on gaining and maintaining a healthy mindset based on Islamic philosophies. The hybrid event was attended by over 30 Baiduri employees in person and over 50 employees attended the session online.
Hj Haliluddin Dato Hj Talib, Managing Director of Baiduri Finance, in his welcome speech, highlighted the importance of taking care of one’s physical, mental and spiritual health. “I hope that this talk will help us find new ways to cope with certain struggles and empower us to reach our goals both at home and at work.”
The second event, a donation drive in partnership with the Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) Social Kitchen initative, was held on 30 April 2022. The goal of the partnership was to assist SCOT in providing meals for frontline healthcare workers, patients in RIPAS Hospital and the Psychiatric Ward in Brunei whilst providing an opportunity for single mothers to gain employment by preparing the meals.
According to Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration, the employee’s eagerness to participate in the event exemplifies the Bank’s core values of being enterprising and demonstrating empathy. “Organisations, such as SCOT, who organise these charitable activities and provide an avenue for us to give back to our community, are the hidden heroes. We hope that through our support, they can continue to carry out initiatives such as these.”
Speaking on the initative, Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank said, “On behalf of our employees who donated to this cause, we sincerely hope that this humble donation is able to provide some joy and relief to the families.”
Speaking on the target of 250 meals, the CEO of Baiduri Bank was proud to state that through the generosity and willingness to contribute to such a wonderful cause, the employees of Baiduri Bank and its subsidiaries were able to collectively donate more than 800 meals. “With such an overwhelming response, we are glad to be able to contribute towards another round of donations of meals for the community at large. It brings an even greater sense of pride in knowing that this initiative was driven solely through the contributions of the Bank’s employees and EWI Ambassadors.” He further elaborated that all these initiatives are in line with the Bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and fits perfectly within the Bank’s co-creation ethos. “Initiatives such as this are well aligned to our mission to enrich, empower and engage the communities we serve in a responsible and sustainable way.”
As part of the donation to SCOT, the CEO of Baiduri Bank was also present at the SCOT headquarters to help prepare the meals prior to delivery to the recipients. Also present at the event was the Acting CEO of RIPAS Hospital, Abdol Haziz bin Hj Ahad, Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration and Chiam Chin Huei, Deputy Head of Group Human Resources
