BAIDURI BANK CONTINUES ‘LETS GIVE BACK THIS RAMADHAN’ 8 IN BELAIT
25 March 2024

The eighth edition of Baiduri Bank’s annual ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ initiative continued in the Belait District at Soon Lee Megamart Pandan 7 today.

This year, Baiduri Bank has partnered with the Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities (MKOKU) and the initiative will support a total of 100 MKOKU members and their families, who will enjoy an afternoon of shopping and iftar in the evening.

Present at the event from Baiduri Bank’s management committee was Manuel Bulens, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Banking.

“Sustainability is not only about doing less harm to the environment. It is also about having a positive influence on the communities we serve. And that means recognising the value of diversity and making more of an effort to emphasise inclusivity,” he said.

“We are grateful to MKOKU for giving us the opportunity to support several underserved communities by welcoming, respecting, and valuing their members and families and helping them prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya festivities.”

Ng Yick Wei, Head of Group Strategic Marketing and Communications at Baiduri Bank, added: “Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan is a heartfelt opportunity for our volunteers to embody our brand values. Through CSR activities like this, we aim to inspire and empower our employees to make impactful contributions to our cherished communities.”

There are currently nine non-governmental organisations (NGOs) under the MKOKU – Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, The Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA), Paraplegic and Physically Handicapped Association (PAPDA), Society for Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER Brunei), Down Syndrome Association (ABLE), Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD), Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB), National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP) and Learning Ladders Society (LLS).

As in previous years, the initiative is supported by volunteers from ‘Baiduri Cares’, an internal programme where employees from Baiduri Bank and its sister companies – Baiduri Finance and Baiduri Capital – can volunteer their time and energy to various activities.

In the spirit of collaboration, the Bank has continued its partnership with Setia Motors, with Indera Motors joining as an additional logistics partner for the initiative, assisting in transporting families from their homes to the respective venues and back.
