As part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, Baiduri Bank donated personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of 1,000 jupiter suits and 600 face shields to Emergency Medical Ambulance Services (EMAS). The donation of PPE is aimed to support the EMAS paramedics in their challenging daily routine, especially during the pandemic. On top of the PPE, the Bank also provided packet drinks and on-the-go snacks for the paramedics to replenish themselves during their downtime.

The handover ceremony was held at the EMAS Headquarters at RIPAS Hospital today. The items were presented by Ak. Nor Muhammad Nizam bin Pg Hj Tengah, Head of Group Treasury and Institutional Banking of Baiduri Bank as a representative of the management of Baiduri Bank. Present to receive the contribution of PPE was Hjh Nora binti Hj Md Yusof, Head of EMAS.

Speaking on the initiative, Ak. Nor Muhammad Nizam said, “This pandemic has highlighted the need for healthcare and rapid response, and we have taken the initiative to assist these paramedics during this challenging time.” He further elaborated, “Paramedics often work round the clock to transport those in need of medical attention so we hope that this humble donation of PPE will help them carry out their duties.”

Also present at the handover of items was Rusydina Junaidi, Corporate Communications Manager, Baiduri Bank.

EMAS was set up on 1 August 1988 as a section under the Hospital Emergency Department before it became an independent unit in 2009. The unit has grown from having 20 paramedics to 139 paramedics altogether and the whole unit is made up of 181 personnel comprising drivers, attendants and operators across all 4 districts and operate 24 hours a day.
