In an effort to promote sustainability and responsible waste management, Baiduri Bank is once again launching the Bisaitah Recycle 2025 initiative, encouraging the public to recycle their used festive packets instead of discarding them.
Following the success of last year’s campaign, which saw over 192kg of festive packets collected, recycled, and diverted away from landfills, this year’s initiative aims to further increase community participation by expanding collection points to not only designated Baiduri Bank branches but also selected partner locations from 3 February to 2 May 2025.
Speaking on the initiative, Manuel Bulens, Deputy CEO, Consumer Banking, as well as the Chairman of Baiduri Bank’s Sustainability Committee, shared, “At Baiduri Bank, sustainability is embedded in our strategy under three pillars: People, Process, and Planet. Through Bisaitah Recycle, we are integrating sustainability into cultural traditions, encouraging mindful consumption while preserving the spirit of festive giving.
Under the Planet pillar, we are committed to addressing key environmental imperatives such as climate change mitigation and responsible resource management, with initiatives like Bisaitah Recycle reflecting this commitment by reducing waste. By collaborating with Kaimana Living and Thryffy, we are making recycling more accessible and impactful, ensuring that every festive packet collected helps reduce landfill waste and contributes to a greener Brunei.”
Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), the national agency on environmental protection and waste management in Brunei, expressed its support for the initiative: “Encouraging recycling habits, particularly for common festive waste, is an important step toward a more environmentally sustainable Brunei. We commend Baiduri Bank for taking the initiative to promote this effort,” said Hajah Martinah binti Haji Tamit, the Director of Environment, Parks and Recreation.
