BAIDURI BANK GIVES TALK ON ORGANISATIONAL WELLNESS AND DEVELOPMENT AT IPA CUSTOMER DAY
22 March 2023

As part of this year’s Civil Service Institute (IPA)’s Customer Day 2023, Baiduri Bank held a talk that focused on organisational and employee wellness on 20 March 2023.

The talk, titled ‘Enhancing Workplace Well-being and Productivity’, was held at the An-Najah Hall of the IPA and was attended by some 40 civil servants from various Government Ministries and Government-Linked Companies (GLC).

According to the IPA, the objective of the Customer Day was to help socialize IPA programs and services and to enhance knowledge on topics related to the workplace, such as work ethics, capacity building, integrity, employee well-being, cyber security and basic skills in Information and Technology.

This helps to ensure that employees in the public service are equipped with the skills and competencies set that is needed to help with achieving organisational and service delivery excellence. The event was also an opportunity to strengthen the working relationships between Ministries and other departments, GLCs, as well as companies in the private sector.

Representing the Bank at the event from Group Human Resources were Chiam Chin Huei, Deputy Head; Azeem Kamarulzaman, Organisation Development Lead and Hj Mohammad Yazid Hj Abdul Ranni, Employee Relations Officer.

During the talk, they shared their experience about how the Bank has already introduced a number of Human Resources (HR) initiatives to address organisational development and employee engagement – one of which is the Employee Wellness Initiative, designed to improve and raise awareness of the Bank’s employees’ physical, mental, financial and spiritual health through various activities.

The Bank also recently added a new Organisation Development unit under its HR division to focus on achieving optimal organisation effectiveness through its culture, skills and capability. Additionally, launched the Leadership Academy and Emerging Leaders Mentoring Programme to upskill its employees and develop future-ready capabilities and foster a learning culture within the organisation.

They also spoke about how these initiatives also focus on building a strong, positive company culture, with clear purpose and values, alongside the strong need to support employees’ well-being. These aspects of the workplace have increasingly been recognised as key to talent retention and increased productivity.

Speaking about the event, Chin Huei said that strong partnerships between the Government and companies in the private sector can promote the sharing of knowledge and information, providing invaluable insights into trends and best practices.

She said: “We hope that opportunities to collaborate through talks like this will help to facilitate knowledge-sharing amongst our local partners, so we can all benefit from the collective insights and discussions, and be inspired to empower our workforce for success, now and in the future.”

Meanwhile, Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration said: “Baiduri Bank is glad to collaborate strategically with IPA, who plays a pivotal role as a Human Resource enabler for the civil service in terms of training, consultancy and assessment.

“At Baiduri Bank, we aim to continuously provide dynamic learning and development opportunities tailored to the current and future requirements to enhance workforce competency and capability, efficiency and organisational performance. We hope that through more partnerships like this, we can contribute towards HR development in the country, in line with the aspirations of Wawasan Brunei 2035.”
