Baiduri Bank celebrated the achievements of graduates from its Graduate Apprenticeship Programme (GAP) Cycle 4 at a graduation ceremony held yesterday at the Baiduri Community Space, Baiduri Bank Headquarters. The ceremony marked the completion of the 6-month programme by the apprentices.
The event was attended by the apprentices, GAP alumni, Heads of Departments, and members of the Bank's Management Committee.
During the ceremony, each apprentice received a certificate in recognition of their programme completion. The apprentices also delivered brief presentations reflecting on their journey and growth throughout the programme, highlighting the events and projects in which they were involved.
From this cycle, five apprentices have been offered permanent employment within Baiduri Bank Group.
In his opening remarks, Ti Eng Hui, CEO of Baiduri Bank, commended the apprentices for their achievements and acknowledged their contributions to Baiduri Bank Group over the past year. He underscored the demand for programmes like GAP and their importance in preparing graduates for the rigours of a competitive job market.
He stated, “GAP offers recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience and establish a stronger foothold in the job market. Our apprentices have not only developed key skills such as communication and project management but have also taken active roles in initiatives that benefit the local community.”
During their apprenticeship, the apprentices organised and led successful events, including the Baiduri Bank Annual Blood Donation Drive and the Baiduri Boardwalk—a celebration of the Bank’s 30th Anniversary that stood out from events organised in previous cycles.
GAP is a 6-month holistic learning and development programme aimed at equipping recent graduates with the essential knowledge, skills, and experience needed to enhance their employability in the local job market.
The fourth intake of the programme received over 400 applications earlier this year. After a rigorous selection process involving written assessments and interviews, Baiduri Bank Group welcomed 11 apprentices into the programme last May.
The apprentices began with classroom learning activities to build a foundation in banking and various financial products and services. They then moved on to on-the-job training in different departments, gaining hands-on experience in the operations of a financial institution. Apprentices also participated in projects that positively impact the local community through the Bank Group's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and led health and wellness activities under Baiduri Bank’s Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI).
Upon completing the programme, apprentices are encouraged to apply for suitable roles within Baiduri Bank Group or pursue careers with other organisations across various industries.
The programme is currently accepting applications for its fifth cycle. It is open to Bruneian citizens and permanent residents who have graduated within the past three years with at least a Bachelor's degree and who have no prior work experience.
Candidates interested in applying for the programme may complete their profile and application through the online Recruitment Portal on the Bank's website. Applications will open from 16 December 2024 and will close on 31 January 2025.
