Baiduri Bank celebrated and recognised the achievements of the graduates from its Graduate Apprenticeship Programme (GAP) Cycle 3 with a graduation ceremony held yesterday. The ceremony marked the completion of the 6-month programme by the apprentices.
The event took place at Baiduri Community Space, Baiduri Bank Headquarters and was attended by the apprentices, GAP alumni, Heads of Departments, and members of the Bank's Management Committee.
During the ceremony, apprentices received certificates signifying their programme completion. Each apprentice had the opportunity to give a short presentation on their journey and growth during the programme, including a recap of the various events they were involved in.
From this cycle, three apprentices have been offered permanent employment within Baiduri Bank Group.
In his opening remarks, Ti Eng Hui, CEO of Baiduri Bank, commended the apprentices for their achievements and acknowledged their contributions to Baiduri Bank Group throughout the year. He highlighted the significant demand for programmes like GAP and their role in facilitating the professional development of local graduates.
He stated, "GAP offers recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience and a stronger foothold in the job market. Throughout their time here, our apprentices not only went through courses to acquire soft skills such as effective communication, project management, and teamwork but also actively participated in community initiatives."
During their apprenticeship, they organised and led five successful events, including the Baiduri Bank Annual Blood Donation Drive, the Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI) Beach Clean-up, and the recent GAP Cycle 4 Open Day.
As part of their experiential learning, apprentices spent five months in various departments, including Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance, Human Resources, Strategic Marketing & Communications, and IT.
GAP is a 6-month holistic learning and development programme aimed at providing recent graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to enhance their employability in the local job market.
The third intake of the programme received over 200 applications earlier this year. After a selection process involving written assessments and interviews, Baiduri Bank Group welcomed 11 apprentices into the programme last May.
Successful applicants start as apprentices, participating in classroom learning activities to gain comprehensive knowledge of the banking world and various financial products and services. Subsequently, they undergo on-the-job training in different departments to gain first-hand experience in a financial institution's operations. Apprentices also engage in projects that positively impact the local community through the Bank Group's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Upon programme completion, apprentices are given the opportunity to apply for suitable vacancies within Baiduri Bank Group or pursue careers with other organisations in various industries.
The programme is currently accepting applications for the fourth cycle. It is open to Bruneian citizens and permanent residents who graduated in the last three years with at least a bachelor's degree and no prior work experience.
Candidates interested in applying for the programme can submit their latest resume and a copy of their highest education certificate through the online Recruitment Portal on the Bank's website. Applications opened on 1 November 2023 and will close on 31 December 2023.
