BAIDURI BANK HOLDS THIRD ‘LET’S GIVE BACK THIS RAMADHAN’ EVENT AT TUTONG DISTRICT
28 April 2021

In the third event of the ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series, Baiduri Bank organised a shopping excursion and iftar for underprivileged families in the Tutong district.

The families in the Tutong district were identified through Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) Brunei, a non-profit organisation established to address social issues in Brunei by providing assistance to improve the welfare of the vulnerable in the country.

The ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ initiative aims to provide relief for selected underprivileged families in the four districts by taking them shopping for household and basic necessities in preparation for Hari Raya.

The event was held at Hua Ho, Petani Mall today.

This year, ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ is run with the support of volunteers from Baiduri Bank and its subsidiaries. Over 130 employees registered to take part in this initiative, providing support and assistance to the families during the shopping excursions.

Speaking on the culture of volunteerism, Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration, Baiduri Bank said, “We have recently launched an internal programme known as Baiduri Cares which encourages our staff to give back to the community by being directly involved in various volunteering activities.

The Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan initiative is the first of many volunteering events that the Bank has in the pipeline. Volunteering offers an opportunity for our people to make a positive impact on society through the investment of their time, skills and efforts.”

Ng Yick Wei, Head of Group Marketing and Strategic Communications at Baiduri Bank further elaborated, “Our employee volunteer programme provides a platform to bring our brand values to life. With volunteering activities focused on our Corporate Social Responsibility pillars of Social, Economic and Environmental, we hope to engage, empower and mobilise our employees to make meaningful contributions to the communities we serve.”

The event concluded with iftar at Lanes Hotel for the families, members of the media and Baiduri Bank volunteers.

The final event will be held for Brunei Muara families on Monday, 5 May 2021.

As part of the Bank’s pledge to co-create with the community, this year’s ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series witnesses partnership with not just MKM Brunei, but also with Dart Brunei, Brunei’s ride hailing booking service, with the aim of supporting local enterprises.
