BAIDURI BANK HOLDS WORLD SIGHT DAY TALK FOR EMPLOYEES
11 November 2023

As part of its unwavering commitment to employee wellbeing, Baiduri Bank hosted a health talk on the importance of eye care. The event, held at the Baiduri Community Space in the Bank’s headquarters, was part of the Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI) that underlines the Bank’s ethos of caring for its workforce.

The session, led by esteemed ophthalmologist specialist Dr. Hjh Helena Hurairah from the Ministry of Health, was attended by a group of over 60 employees. The topic was focused on standard practices for maintaining optimal eye health.

The event, held in observance of World Sight Day, aimed to equip staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to take charge of their vision health, emphasising the importance of regular eye check-ups and awareness of the early signs of eye conditions. This proactive approach is important to preventing discomfort and more severe health issues arising from extensive screen time.

The EWI is a Baiduri Bank Group initiative aimed at providing the support, guidance, and avenues for all Baiduri Bank Group employees to learn and get information on achieving a more balanced work-life. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Bank to enhance employee engagement and promote a healthier and nurturing corporate culture.

Chiam Chin Huei, Deputy Head of Group Human Resources at Baiduri Bank, emphasised the value of the initiative, “Our vision plays a fundamental role in the quality of life both at work and at home. Gaining an essential awareness of our sight will help to detect and prevent any vision related diseases or complications. Our people are our most important asset, hence, looking after their wellbeing is a key priority for us.”

During the event, the participants had the opportunity to engage directly with a specialist for vision screening and workplace ergonomics. Through interactive and informative activities, the event not only emphasised the importance of eye health but was also enlightening and enriching experience for the participants involved.
