Every year for the last twenty years, Baiduri Bank has provided support for underprivileged students from various private schools in Brunei in the form of school fee sponsorships as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

For 2022, the Bank hosted a virtual ceremony to hand over the donations for twenty-one underprivileged students. The students were nominated by the participating schools from all the districts. The schools are St Andrew’s School; St George’s School; Chung Hwa Middle School; Chung Ching Middle School; Chung Hua Middle School, Belait; Chung Hwa School, Labi; Chung Lian School, Sg Liang; St Angela’s School; Chung Hwa School, Kiudang; Chung Hwa School, Tutong; and Pai Yuek School.

Present at the virtual event were the principals and representatives of the schools.

In his welcome remarks, Mr Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer, mentioned that the initiative first began twenty years ago during the Chinese New Year celebrations and has been an ongoing initiative ever since. He further elaborated, “Over the years, we have been able to support hundreds of students to continue their studies with the aim to motivate them to achieve academic excellence and contribute back to society with their knowledge and skills.” In the spirit of giving back for education, Baiduri Bank has also contributed 100 brand new laptops to the Ministry of Education for the purpose of home learning during the pandemic. He also hoped that events such as these would inspire others to come forward and help those in need.
