Baiduri Bank has joined the Singapore Sustainable Finance Association (SSFA) as an Associate Member, strengthening its connections with the regional sustainable finance community and providing greater access to industry insights, collaboration opportunities, and emerging practices shaping the future of sustainable finance in Asia.
The membership reflects the Bank's commitment to advancing its sustainable finance capabilities, strengthening regional engagement, and remaining closely connected to evolving market developments, emerging best practices, and industry trends shaping the sustainable finance landscape across the region.
The SSFA brings together financial institutions, corporates, service providers, and other stakeholders to support the development of sustainable finance. Through its membership, Baiduri Bank will be able to participate in industry discussions, access thought leadership and market insights, and exchange perspectives with organisations working on sustainability and transition-related initiatives across the region.
Manuel Bulens, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Banking and Chairman of Baiduri Bank Group Sustainability Committee, said:
For us, joining the SSFA is about staying connected to the conversations and developments shaping sustainable finance across the region. It gives us the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from the experiences of others, and keep up to date with trends and opportunities that may be relevant for Brunei.
As sustainability becomes a bigger focus for businesses and investors, these discussions become increasingly important. Through the SSFA, we can continue to strengthen our capabilities, build valuable relationships, and support the changing needs of our customers and stakeholders
The membership builds on a number of initiatives undertaken by the Bank in recent years. In 2024, Baiduri Bank launched Baiduri Greenprint, its environmental, social and governance strategy built around three pillars: People, Process and Planet.
As part of its commitment to transparency, the Bank has voluntarily published two Sustainability Reports, providing stakeholders with greater visibility into its priorities, actions, and progress.
Baiduri Bank also continues to participate in regional and international initiatives, including the United Nations Global Compact, the ASEAN Taxonomy Board Industry Advisory Panel, and activities through its Singapore Representative Office. These engagements enable the Bank to remain connected to evolving developments and discussions that are increasingly relevant to businesses, financial institutions, and economies across the region.
The membership supports the Bank's broader ambition to contribute to Brunei's transition towards a lower-carbon economy, in line with the aspirations of the Brunei National Climate Change Policy, while continuing to create long-term value for customers, businesses, communities, and other stakeholders.
