Baiduri Bank launched its latest product, Baiduri Tap2Pay, a Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled solution that will empower merchants to meet the growing demand for contactless payments. This launch supports Brunei's transition to a more inclusive and digitally advanced economy.
Baiduri Tap2Pay is the first solution of its kind in Brunei, transforming merchants’ NFC-enabled mobile devices into POS terminals capable of accepting contactless payments without the need for traditional payment hardware. This ensures that both the Bank and its merchants remain competitive and well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of customers in today’s fast-paced digital payment landscape.
Baiduri Tap2Pay is fully compliant with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), meaning the solution has undergone rigorous security assessments and meets international software security standards. This guarantees that both merchants and consumers in Brunei benefit from the highest levels of security, offering peace of mind with every transaction.
Baiduri Tap2Pay marks another milestone in the Bank’s investment into digital channels, aligning with the national directive of transforming Brunei into a smart nation. Through these investments, the Bank hopes to reduce the nation’s reliance on cash and accelerate the adoption of digital payment solutions across the country.
“We are constantly seeking to expand our payment ecosystem as part of our broader digital transformation roadmap,” said Lim Kian Chiong, Head of Retail Banking at Baiduri Bank. “This involves integrating new technologies across our operations, automating internal processes, and enhancing our data analytics capabilities. In doing so, we aim to enrich our customers’ experience by fostering better interactions and engagement with the Bank.”
He added, “With Baiduri Tap2Pay, food delivery drivers can securely accept card payments at customers’ doorsteps, and restaurant diners can pay their bill without leaving their seats. Whether at the shop counter or roadside stalls, merchants can offer a streamlined, faster payment experience using more accessible technology.”
Baiduri Tap2Pay is powered by FasstapTM - a proprietary solution by Soft Space Sdn Bhd. Soft Space is a leading fintech player headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, serving over 90 financial institutions and partners across 30 global markets.
The new service complements the Bank’s existing suite of digital payment services, which includes Baiduri QPay, Baiduri Payment Gateway Services, and MerchantSuite (by Linkly).
