BAIDURI BANK, MINISTRY OF CULTURE, YOUTH AND SPORTS EXTEND MOU FOR MENGALINGA
15 November 2023

Baiduri Bank and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the enhancement of the native mobile application, Mengalinga at the Baiduri Community Space yesterday.

Present as Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Baiduri Bank will continue as the strategic partner of the government initiative, supporting the further development and enhancement of Mengalinga as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

The mobile application functions as a platform for event organisers from government and non-government organisations to promote volunteering opportunities and allow participants to sign up through the app.

Over 130 organisations and 3000 volunteers have registered on Mengalinga, with almost 400 events successfully sourcing volunteers through the app since its launch in 2021.

“Mengalinga is where technology and compassion intersect. It not only fosters community engagement, but also amplifies the impact of volunteerism and charitable endeavours. This platform has become a catalyst for community involvement and social empowerment, enhancing the reach and impact of volunteer efforts,” said Pg Azaleen bin Pg Dato Haji Mustapha, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Business Development of Baiduri Bank during the MOU signing.

"Our commitment to Mengalinga aligns perfectly with Baiduri Bank's core values, especially in terms of giving back to the community. In line with Wawasan 2035, this MOU is a demonstration of our shared responsibility and continued commitment to co-creating a more sustainable future. Through Mengalinga, we hope to empower people who have a passion for helping others and making a difference,” Pg Azaleen added.

“Baiduri Bank’s continuous support and contribution towards the ongoing development and enhancement of the Mengalinga app is evidence of a strong collaboration between the government and private sector. This strategic partnership plays a vital role in empowering the youth and communities through a whole of nation approach,” said Dayang Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim, Director of Youth and Sports, Department of Youth and Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Signing on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports were Yang Mulia Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary (Youth) and Yang Mulia Hajah Noor Maslina binti Haji Sulaiman, Head of Youth Officer, Department of Youth and Sports.

Signing on behalf of Baiduri Bank were Pg Azaleen bin Pg Dato Haji Mustapha, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Business Development and Ak Nor Muhammad Nizam Pg Hj Tengah, Head of Group Treasury and Institutional Banking.

The development and enhancement of Mengalinga is one of the Bank’s community projects. Other CSR initiatives that the Bank has undertaken include 'Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan', eco-markets, zero waste educational workshops for schools, and the introduction of Maribali, an e-Marketplace for local MSMEs.
