Baiduri Bank has been named Best Banking Group for Brunei for the 17th consecutive year at the World Finance Banking Awards 2025, recognising the Bank’s leadership, innovation, and resilience during a year of global economic and industry challenges.
The World Finance Banking Awards honour institutions that set benchmarks for responsible growth and reimagine the future of banking, with 2024 marking a year of record profits, strong capital and funding, robust risk management, and industry-leading efficiency for Baiduri Bank.
Commenting on the award, Ti Eng Hui, CEO of Baiduri Bank, said:
“We are proud to be recognised as the Best Banking Group in Brunei by World Finance. This achievement reflects the dedication of our people, the trust of our customers, and our unwavering focus on innovation and resilience. Over the past year, we have strengthened our core, advanced our regional diversification strategy, and invested in digital and sustainable solutions to better serve our communities. In 2024, Baiduri Bank advanced its digital agenda with the launch of Baiduri Tap2Pay, Brunei’s first NFC-enabled mobile payment solution designed to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Enhancements to the Bank’s digital banking app also reinforced customer protection with new security features.
The Bank also invested heavily in people development, expanding its Leadership Academy and Emerging Leaders Mentoring Programme, while embedding sustainability into its organisational culture.
In addition, Baiduri Bank made significant progress on its sustainability journey, guided by the Baiduri Greenprint framework structured around the pillars of People, Process, and Planet. Key milestones included the completion of its first comprehensive materiality assessment, the appointment of a Head of Sustainability in 2025, becoming a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and signing a facility agreement with Seri Suria Power as the sole financier of Brunei Darussalam’s first large-scale solar photovoltaic power plant.
