Baiduri Bank has been named Best Bank in Brunei by Euromoney, marking the fourth time the Bank has received the accolade. The award recognises Baiduri Bank's strong financial performance, disciplined execution, continued investment in digital transformation, and growing role in supporting Brunei Darussalam's economic development.
The award was presented at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence Dinner held on Thursday, 10 September 2026, at Raffles Hotel, Singapore. Representing Baiduri Bank at the ceremony were Leonard Lee, Head of Corporate Banking and Trade Finance; Ak Nor Muhammad Nizam Pg Hj Tengah, Head of Institutional Banking; and Jonathan Lim, General Manager of Baiduri Finance.
According to Euromoney, Baiduri Bank's performance in 2025 was marked by balance sheet expansion, improved asset quality, and continued investment across its retail, corporate, and institutional banking franchises. The publication highlighted the Bank's record net profit of BND97.2 million and return on equity of 13.87%, noting that both were achieved while maintaining strong capitalisation and prudent risk management. The award also recognised the Bank's ability to grow its lending portfolio while preserving credit quality, reflecting consistency in underwriting and portfolio management.
Euromoney further cited Baiduri Bank's progress in organisational transformation, including the ongoing migration to a cloud-based core banking platform and automation initiatives across credit and operational processes. These investments have strengthened efficiency and scalability while enhancing customer experience across both retail and corporate banking channels.
The publication also noted the Bank's continued support for domestic economic activity, including participation in renewable energy infrastructure projects and the expansion of its Institutional Banking capabilities. The establishment of Baiduri Bank's Singapore Representative Office was highlighted as a strategic step in strengthening regional connectivity and facilitating greater access to cross-border funding, partnerships, and transaction flows.
Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, said: "What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it reflects progress across different parts of the Bank. It is not the result of a single initiative, but the outcome of years of investment in our people, technology, capabilities, and the way we serve our customers.
Over the past few years, we have focused on building a stronger and more scalable organisation while continuing to support the evolving needs of individuals, businesses, and institutions. To see those efforts recognised by an international publication like Euromoney is very encouraging and serves as a strong affirmation of the direction we have taken."
Euromoney Awards for Excellence is one of the banking industry's longest-running and most respected awards programmes, recognising financial institutions that demonstrate leadership, innovation, and strong business performance across their respective markets.
