Over 150 employees from across Baiduri Bank and its subsidiaries attended the sustainability workshop, demonstrating their interest and commitment to this very important subject. The workshop drew a mix of staff from both frontline functions, such as sales and customer service, and support functions including HR and risk management.
The workshops were conducted by invited speakers from Schneider Electric including Bess Ng, Associate Principal, Sustainability Business Client Manager; Sofia Tyebally, Senior Sustainability Consultant, Sustainability Business; and Gunjita Jain, Sustainability Analyst, Sustainability Business, who captivated the participants with their insights on sustainable practices.
One of the key takeaways from the workshop was the significance of adopting sustainability as a core business value that not only benefits the environment but also drives long-term profitability and resilience. By embracing sustainable practices, businesses can contribute to a better future while simultaneously enhancing their own success. The speakers also enlightened participants on how they can incorporate sustainable strategies into their own organisations.

"At Baiduri Bank, we believe that sustainability is an imperative for businesses," said Ti Eng Hui, CEO of Baiduri Bank, “At the cornerstone of our approach are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the aspirations of Brunei's Wawasan 2035 in promoting the sustainable management of natural resources and the environment. They are at the core of our commitment to co-creating a resilient and prosperous future.”

He added, “As an industry leader and good corporate citizen, it is also our responsibility to reach out to our stakeholders, internally and externally, to establish and redefine what profitability means in the context of sustainability. We hope events like this workshop can assist to reframe our stakeholders’ perspective to see how sustainability can be a catalyst for growth and a competitive advantage.”

The event concluded on a high note, with participants expressing their gratitude for the valuable insights gained from the workshop.
