Baiduri Bank, through its Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI), recently partnered with PINGAT (Preserving Identity in Neurodegenerative Geriatric Ageing and Thinking Disorders) to host a Dementia Awareness Talk at the Baiduri Community Space, Baiduri Bank Headquarters.
The programme was organised to promote greater understanding of dementia, encourage early recognition of symptoms, and support healthy ageing. The session was delivered by third-year medical students from the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), alongside their lecturer and clinical supervisor.
In her welcoming remarks, Chiam Chin Huei, Deputy Head of Group Human Resources at Baiduri Bank, highlighted the importance of promoting greater understanding of dementia.
“Building awareness today helps us prepare for tomorrow, not only by taking better care of ourselves, but also by becoming a more informed and compassionate community,” she said.
Participants gained valuable insights into the signs and symptoms of dementia, associated risk factors, preventive measures, and practical ways to support individuals living with the condition. The programme also featured interactive activities, educational exhibits and an interactive discussion session, creating opportunities for meaningful conversations around cognitive health and ageing.
Through initiatives such as this, Baiduri Bank continues to create opportunities for employees to engage with important health and wellbeing topics, encouraging meaningful conversations around issues that impact individuals, families and the wider community.
Baiduri Bank extends its appreciation to PINGAT and the Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, for their collaboration in delivering this meaningful programme and contributing to greater awareness of dementia in Brunei Darussalam.
