Continuing its long-standing commitment to community development, Baiduri Bank today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC). The signing, supported by the Ministry of Health, underscores a shared commitment to advancing social welfare and volunteerism in the country.
The ceremony was graced by Dr Hjh Lailawati binti Hj Jumat, Director of Hospital Services at the Ministry of Health, as the Guest of Honour.
Through this collaboration, Baiduri Bank will provide financial support towards the development of BRC Care, a caregiving service led by BRC, while also promoting a culture of volunteerism among employees across Baiduri Bank Group. The initiative aligns closely with the Bank’s CSR framework, which is built on three pillars, Social, Economic, and Environmental.
BRC Care is a professional caregiving service for home and at the hospital which includes a range of services such as health check-up, nursing and psychological consultation, caregiver training as well as specialised care including Nasogastric Tube feeding and other caregiving procedures under professional guidance.
Signing on behalf of Baiduri Bank was Mr Ti Eng Hui, while Lailatul Zubaidah binti Hj Mohd Hussain, President of the BRC, signed on behalf of the Brunei Red Crescent Society.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, said, “This MoU reflects our strategic vision of engaging with the communities we serve in meaningful and sustainable ways. By working alongside internationally affiliated organisations such as the BRC, we are contributing to inclusive social development in line with the goals and strategies of Wawasan Brunei 2035.” He added, “Supporting the BRC Care programme allows us to contribute to a meaningful initiative that brings essential caregiving services directly to those who need them most.”
Lailatul Zubaidah binti Hj Mohd Hussain, President of the BRC, said, “The launching of BRC Care with the staunch support of Baiduri Bank will improve the lives of many individuals and their families in our community. It also sends a strong message to society that social cohesion can be so easily achieved when empathy and kindness become shared goals between us all.
It goes without saying, I hope more corporates and like-minded organizations follow suit, forging new partnerships and reviving existing ones with BRC, to stand shoulder to shoulder in with both BRC and Baiduri Bank to build up healthy and safe communities, reduce vulnerabilities, strengthen resilience and most importantly, foster a culture of peace around the world.”
Beyond financial support, the partnership opens new avenues for Baiduri Bank employees to engage directly with the community through Baiduri Cares and Mengalinga, Brunei’s pioneering volunteering platform developed with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. It will also strengthen capacity-building efforts as BRC provides professional first aid and psychological first aid training for employees — equipping them with vital skills to support the community in times of need.
