BAIDURI BANK WELCOMES 10 APPRENTICES IN FIFTH CYCLE OF GRADUATE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME
09 May 2025

Baiduri Bank welcomed the fifth cohort of apprentices to its Graduate Apprenticeship Programme (GAP) at the Atrium of Baiduri Bank Headquarters on Wednesday, 7 May 2025.

After a rigorous selection process involving over 400 applicants, including interviews and psychometric assessments, the Bank selected 10 apprentices who are set to commence their six-month apprenticeship on 2 June 2025. The apprentices come from diverse academic backgrounds, including Data Science, Marketing, Economics, and Business and Finance, with qualifications from both local and international universities.

Present at the ceremony were Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, and Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration, as well as other members of the Bank’s Management Committee, Heads of Departments and families of the incoming apprentices.

GAP represents Baiduri Bank’s comprehensive learning and development initiative aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry experience. The six-month programme equips fresh graduates with the knowledge, practical skills, and exposure required to enhance their employability within Brunei’s evolving job market. It consists of structured classroom learning, on-the-job training, and project assignments within the Bank.

This year, Cycle 5 introduces a key enhancement to the programme with a mandatory rotation across branches under the Retail Banking Division. This new structure provides apprentices with a focused approach on the Bank’s core business, branch network operations and exposure to customer service. This addition is aimed at deepening their understanding of what drives our business, frontline customer interactions and operational processes, and prepares them for more holistic roles in the financial sector.

In his welcoming remarks, Ti Eng Hui said, "GAP is part of our commitment to building a highly skilled, resilient workforce for Brunei’s future. By equipping young graduates with real-world experience and essential soft skills, we aim to empower the next generation to contribute meaningfully to our nation’s growth."

Upon completing the six-month programme, apprentices will have the opportunity to apply for suitable vacancies within the Baiduri Bank Group or pursue career opportunities across the broader industry, armed with valuable knowledge, experience, and skills.
