As part of its commitment to promoting financial literacy and digital awareness among the younger generation, Baiduri Bank hosted 26 Year 5 students from Seri Mulia Sarjana School for a special educational visit to the Bank’s headquarters.
The students, who are currently preparing for an in-house Young Entrepreneurship programme, are learning key life skills such as earning money, saving, and budgeting. To support their learning journey, the visit was designed to offer hands-on experience and introduce practical concepts in a fun, engaging format.
Baiduri Bank’s Wealth Management team delivered an age-appropriate financial literacy session, introducing basic concepts such as needs vs. wants, smart saving habits, and how to budget with confidence. Meanwhile, the IT Security team guided the students through a ‘Cybersecurity: Best Practices’ session, focusing on safe online behaviour and how to stay secure when using digital platforms such as email, including their own personal Outlook accounts.
The visit also included interactive quizzes and team-based games to reinforce key messages, followed by a guided tour of the Banking Hall where students observed the day-to-day operations of the Bank.
Speaking on the importance of such initiatives, Brian Wong, Head of Wealth Management at Baiduri Bank said, “It’s never too early to start building good money habits. By engaging students in a way that’s relatable and enjoyable, we hope to spark their curiosity and give them tools they can carry forward into the future. Our aim is to support the next generation of Bruneians in becoming informed, confident, and responsible individuals—both financially and digitally.”
Mohd Amir Hamzah Bahidon, Head of IT Security at Baiduri Bank, added: “With technology and digitalisation becoming integral to everyday learning, it's vital that students understand how to stay safe online, recognise suspicious activity and protect their personal information. Through simple, relatable examples, we aim to build awareness and empower them to become responsible digital citizens.”
This visit aligns with the National Financial Literacy Council efforts - under Pillar 1: Financial Education and Awareness – as well as Baiduri Bank’s broader mission to enrich the communities it serves through education and outreach. Similar initiatives are conducted year-round in partnership with local schools and organisations.
