In the final event of the ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series, Baiduri Bank organised a shopping excursion and iftar for 22 underprivileged families in the Brunei-Muara district.
The families in the Brunei-Muara district were identified through Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) Brunei, a non-profit organisation established to address social issues in Brunei by providing assistance to improve the welfare of the vulnerable in the country.
As part of the Bank’s pledge to co-create with the community, the Bank is not only partnering with MKM Brunei but also with Dart Logistics, Brunei’s first and only ride hailing company, with the aim of supporting local entrepreneurship and business.
The ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ initiative aims to provide relief for selected underprivileged families in the four districts by taking them shopping for household and basic necessities in preparation for Hari Raya. The event was held at Sim Kim Huat (SKH), Sg. Hanching and SKH, Annajat Complex.
Mr Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer, Baiduri Bank and Ak Nor Muhammad Nizam Pg Hj Tengah, Head of Group Treasury and Institutional Banking, Baiduri Bank attended the event in SKH Sg. Hanching while Leonard Lee, Head of Corporate Banking, Baiduri Bank and Chris Ang, Head of Group Finance Division, Baiduri Bank were present at SKH Annajat Complex.
Speaking on the Bank’s CSR strategy pertaining to community giveback, Mr Ti Eng Hui said, “We have carried out a number of events over the years which have been about giving back to the [Brunei] society. Amongst them is the annual Baiduri Masters Charity Golf Tournament where proceeds raised were donated to organisations that support the differently-abled and, more recently, our COVID-19 relief programme where we donated groceries to medical frontliners in RIPAS and Tutong hospitals as well as PPE to the Ministry of Health.”
Speaking on the ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ series, he said, “With Hari Raya in just a few days’ time, we hope to be able to provide these underprivileged families with the opportunity to enjoy the festivities through this humble donation of groceries.”
The event concluded with iftar at Tarindak D’Seni for the families, members of the media and volunteers from Baiduri Bank and its subsidiaries.
