BAIDURI CAPITAL PARTNERS WITH SMARTER BRUNEI FOR HARI RAYA INITIATIVE
12 April 2023

Baiduri Capital and Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei collaborated in an event yesterday to prepare festive cookies and tarts for the upcoming Raya celebrations at the Brunei Autism Centre for Adults (BACA) in Sungai Hanching.

As part of SMARTER Brunei’s Competency Based Training programme, four students from SMARTER with several teachers spent the afternoon baking a variety of cookies with flavours such as chocolate chip, oatmeal and Milo, as well as pineapple tarts.

Baiduri Capital volunteers packed the cookies and tarts for distribution to their clients and local partners. In total, 100 tubs of cookies and tarts were purchased by Baiduri Capital to help with raising funds for SMARTER Brunei’s continued operations.

The SMARTER Brunei’s Competency Based Training programme is a special course to help the students gain vocational skills such as skills in electronics, computer literacy and baking.

Brian Wong, General Manager of Baiduri Capital said that through joint initiatives with organisations such as SMARTER Brunei, they hope to promote the importance of social responsibility and community development, while at the same time supporting the development of essential life skills of the differently abled in the community.

He said: “Through activities like these, we can continue to appreciate the unique abilities that individuals with autism have, while at the same time support SMARTER Brunei to raise the funds they need to recover from these challenging times and continue providing their services for the years to come.”

This is Baiduri Bank Group’s second activity in support of SMARTER Brunei this year.

On 11 March, Baiduri Bank collaborated with SMARTER Brunei to host an art gallery launch at the atrium of its Headquarters to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day. The artworks, created by individuals with autism, were on display at the Atrium until 31 March, to allow members of the public and Baiduri Bank customers to view and purchase the artworks. The art gallery launch was a fundraising initiative by SMARTER Brunei after it announced its downsizing and possible closure last month.
